Solar technology conquer the world of gadgets. We have seen a number of gadgets powered by solar energy. Sol Design Lab`s Solar Pump takes advantage of the accessibility of solar light and further promotes this new trend. Are you running out of power? Stop by the Solar Pump station, a solar charging station set up from a photovoltaic panel that forms shade for a sitting area created from recycled furniture.

Everything OK but what is going on with the actual design? This looks like some ancient petrol station that some madman had coloured in yellow?
Couldn’t they get a decent industrial designer to shape the thing taking into consideration that it is the 21st century already (and people are getting bored of being brainwashed by that trendy “retro” crap),while taking into accounts some basic aesthetic rules?

I’d have to agree with Daniel. It looks like a junior high school project. I understand the concept, but the antiquated gas pump takes from the central design.
Also, this seems to be less than feasible for a mass production unit, and the whole design would seem to be meant exactly for that. If the size of the station were to be reduced and the seating made to be comfortable, I could see these being in every Starbucks within 10 years.
Unfortunately, the design as it is is nothing more than a good idea killed by the execution. It comes across as a novelty and not a practical application of the technology.
